Reclamation & Retention

Reclamation and Retention is one of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity’s internationally mandated programs. The Fraternity charges every level — international, district, and chapter — with keeping active Brothers engaged and returning inactive Brothers to full participatory status. No Brother is written off.

Chi Lambda Lambda takes that charge seriously. Whether your membership lapsed years ago or you are financial elsewhere and have moved to the South Suburbs of Chicago, the door is open. Tell us how to reach you and the Keeper of Records and Seal will walk you through what it takes to stand financial with this chapter again.

  • Reclamation is for any Brother whose active membership has lapsed — whatever the reason, and however long it has been.
  • Transfers are welcome too: a financial Brother relocating to the South Suburbs can move his membership to Chi Lambda Lambda.
  • The Keeper of Records and Seal handles dues, standing, and the paperwork with International Headquarters, and he will follow up with you directly.

Request reclamation

Send this to the Keeper of Records and Seal and he will reach out with your next steps. Only your name and email are required.

Optional — some Brothers would rather get a call than an email.
Optional — the chapter that initiated you, and the year if you remember it.
Optional — where you were last financial, if it differs.
Optional — how long you have been away, questions about dues, or the best time to reach you.

Prefer email? Reach the Keeper of Records and Seal at chilambdalambdakrs@oppf.org.

Becoming an Omega Man

The Fraternity’s founders were men whose steps were ordered by the Lord, because “Omega” is the conclusion or culmination of a successful journey that many men chose as a way of life.

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity is a professional organization of college-educated men with similar ideas and like attainments. The Fraternity’s founders chose Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance and Uplift as the cardinal principles that every prospective candidate must possess. Our Fraternity’s motto is “Friendship is essential to the soul.” Since the birth of the organization, Omega has and will continue to impact the world in every profession and all walks of life.

Candidates must exhibit the qualities of the Fraternity’s Four Cardinal Principles:

  • Manhood Being appropriate in character and marked by moral excellence, courage, bravery, and resolve.
  • Scholarship Demonstrating an attitude toward education, learning, and being informed by achieving or exceeding and maintaining the minimum educational requirements of the Fraternity.
  • Perseverance Exhibiting a spirit of brotherhood, togetherness, humility, cooperation, and a willingness to go an extra mile for the goal sought, as a responsible first-class citizen — demonstrated by obstacles overcome, awards received, and honors issued.
  • Uplift Sharing one's gifts with the community in the form of verifiable aid, activism, and leadership.

Eligibility & Requirements

To be eligible for graduate membership in Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, a prospective candidate must:

  • Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university. Note: if the candidate graduated from a university that had an active chapter of Omega Psi Phi during his tenure as an undergraduate student on campus, he must wait at least 48 months after graduation before applying for membership.
  • Provide at least three (3) letters of recommendation — two (2) sponsors who are financial members of the Fraternity (financial for the current fiscal year and the previous two fiscal years), and a third from a non-Fraternity member who can attest to the candidate’s community service record.
  • Be sponsored by a member of the chapter to which he is applying through the submission of a Nomination Form.
  • Have verifiable community participation and activism, church involvement, and leadership experience.

The Selection Process

Membership is granted through the Fraternity’s Membership Selection Process (MSP):

  • Because the Fraternity emphasizes the selection of men of the highest caliber, candidates are interviewed by the Regional Membership Selection Team, which notifies each applicant of the results of his application for candidacy after all interviews have been conducted.
  • The Fraternity performs a criminal background check to ensure it is selecting men of the highest integrity. Submission to a polygraph examination may also be required.
  • Each applicant must first navigate the Fraternity’s online process. The process is strictly voluntary, and participation does not guarantee membership in the Fraternity.

When chapter intake is open, express your interest at the top of this page and the Membership Committee will guide you through the process.
